Heidi's two month summary

Dear Family,
Okay, we miss you already! Jeff is especially having withdrawals from being with Ella and Emma. He truly could have watched them all day. It was so much fun to have some time with half of you at Wolf Creek. And to those of you who couldn’t make it, you were missed. Also, the 4th of July party was a blast and I know that it meant the world to Aunt Lori and Uncle John. We missed you Garretts, but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as you start your new adventure.
I know that we have not written for awhile, so if I repeat myself I am sorry.
Tyson ended the year with a bang. He still has a GPA of 4.0. We are very proud of him. He also had just a few days of summer before he headed out to football camp. He had a wonderful experience, very hard and tiring, but a great experience. He also was introduced to what it is like to have a roommate that you don’t have a lot in common with. Thank heavens for the rest of his floor. I think he met every single person on his dorm floor. They were all trying to look out for him and switch roommates with him, but his roommate really liked Tyson and followed him around. Jeff and I compared it to a mission, and that you don’t always get along with your companion, but you make it work. As Jeff mentioned in the blog, his team at the BYU football camp won the championship. Thanks to Grandpa, Grandma, Dallen and Karissa for coming to the final game. It meant the world to Tyson. He gets calls and texts daily from guys he met at the camp. His friend Mark from Colorado just may be a friend for life.
After a quick weekend to do laundry and rest up, off to Scout Camp he went. They attended Camp Hunt this year at Bear Lake. It was truly a growing experience for him. I think that purposely his Scout Leader split him up from his usual gang but he didn’t complain. Jeff reminded him to be a leader, work hard and have a great attitude. He really felt the spirit as well as gratitude for his leader. He participated in all of the adventures they offered and was touched by the sunrise canoe ride and the 5:00am initiation of the frozen bear award where they had to go in the freezing water and say the scout oath. He was the only one who participated from his troop. He earned 6 merit badges and really enjoyed all of his counselors. What more can you ask for as a parent? He now only has his camping merit badge and project left and then he will have earned his eagle. He is going to be touring the Newborn ICU this week to start his project.
Brynlie finished the year with a bang as well. She had straight A’s and really enjoyed her teacher and class this year. She loved being the Silver Mesa Idol and participating in Reflections. She also was able to play the piano in her school talent show. She has also put her piano playing to use at our Family Nights. It is so fun to have her accompany us. She is excited for 4th grade and she got the teacher she really wanted, Mr. Nelson. He was Tyson’s student teacher in 5th grade. He teases her a lot!
A few weeks after school got out Brynlie boarded the plane with Grandma to go and see the Gillespies in North Carolina, the Garretts in West Virginia, and Aunt Sara who traveled from Florida. She had the time of her life! What a fun adventure and opportunity to travel with Grandma and I think that their amazingly strong bond was only strengthened. She loved seeing all of the kids and shopping at Walmart and the Flea Market. She was a bit weepy when she came home because she wants to be closer in distance to everyone. Thanks everyone for welcoming and loving her on her trip. I think that she now thinks she is a world traveler. She is already planning her trip to Florida, only this time she has invited the rest of her family to go.
Bryn was also able to participate in a summer dance class at Treehouse. Nancy Lewis moved her up two levels and Brynlie has been so excited. She took ballet for one hour and Jazz for the other. It was quite the change but she absolutely loved it! She is looking forward to the fall. Every time I turn around she is leaping down the hallway, doing turns in the kitchen, or choreographing a new routine. Thanks Aunt Sara and Boo for your examples.
Jeff is doing very well in school and is trying to juggle all of the many facets of his life. It has been fun to be in his gospel essentials class on Sundays and help many less actives and new members understand the gospel in simple terms. One lady in particular really struggles and becomes intimidated by members. She feels like she is uneducated. Every time Jeff teaches, he helps her testimony to grow and it is just a boost to not only her, but to my testimony as well. He also takes the time to point out all of the things that she is doing right in her life. She sits about two inches taller with confidence.
We love you all very much and thank our Heavenly Father daily that you are our family! I hope that our letter finds you happy and healthy!
